About Italian Regional Recipes

This site is run by a group of friends, all living in Italy. Most of us are Italians, though we have some ‘blow-ins’ as well. Contributors are from Emilia Romagna, Tuscany, Sicily, the Marche, and Umbria at the moment, though we’re branching out hoping to get contributors from every single region.

We’ve chosen to approach Italian cooking through its regions, because all of us feel very strongly both a local and national identity – and that’s expressed perfectly through food. One of the funniest things to witness is a group of Italians from different regions sitting down together – as we do – at a restaurant table. Immediately the conversation zooms in on the similarities and differences between the different regional foods – ‘do you have x?’, ‘what do you call y?’ etc.

Our hope for the site is that it helps convey some of the richness of Italian cuisine, and presents recipes in a way that is informative, fun, and above all else encourages you to have a go at cooking these tasty dishes.

Obviously, if you have a recipe you’d like us to publish – do please send it to us, along with a little background that will help us categories it.
